Hey moms, there are great clubs and classes to meet new moms and have activities for the kids. So if you are a new mom starting out or a mom looking for more activities try some of these ideas:
  • Another great club is the MOPS! MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a dynamic program designed to nurture mothers with children from infancy through kindergarten. MOPS is a relevant and caring network, making moms better moms through trusted resources and relationships. MOPS has information on clubs, classes, articles, toys and more. If you're interested, please check out their link, www.mops.com

  • If you're in the NYC area here is a club just for you! Mom in the City is a social and support group for expectant mothers and mothers of children under age 5 in Manhattan and the tri-state area. We host a Moms-Night-Out activity on the last Thursday of each month. If you are interested in joining, please visit their site: www.mominthecity.com. Thank you Kimberely for submitting your group (New York).

  • The Moms Club is a non-profit organization that has groups in ever state/city just about everywhere. To see if there is one in your area, go to www.momsclub.org and check out their links! You can find a club near you or email the MOMS club and see what they are all about. It's a great way to meet other moms and have play dates. There is something to do almost everyday in my area!!

  • If you link to the website, www.mommyandme.com, and join (it's free) go under playgroups and put your zip code in, you can find A LOT of activities, groups, and classes in your area. Hey, it's free, helpful and you can belong to as many clubs or groups as you want to participate in.

  • Gymboree's play and classes were a great hit with my kids. I met friends of my there 3 years ago and the kids STILL play together. The classes show you fun games, songs, dances and activities you can do at home!! Plus, you can buy their products while you play, it's great!! You can find out more if you link to www.gymboree.com. They also have an open play for those of you who are members of a class. There you can meet other moms besides the ones in your class. They have open discussions about problems, products, babies, toddlers, or whatever you want to discuss while the kids play. You can play and learn!

  • I mentioned before the music classes that I had put my kids in and that's where I found the music together instruments! LOVE THEM! I am a big advocate for music and kids. If you go under their website, www.musictogether.com, you can buy instruments, find a class near you, become a teacher yourself and other great things they offer.

  • My Gym was another class that my kids loved. Their website has all of the information you need to find one in your area. Go to www.my-gym.com and look under discover my gym, and then click on a state, YOUR IN BUSINES! They also have an open play for kids to wear off a little steam!

  • If you belong to a religious organization, ask around and find out if they have a club or group that gets together during the week. If they don't, they may know a group that does

  • Finally moms, if you just can't find something that works for you, START YOUR OWN CLUB! Send out emails to your friends or walk around your neighborhood to send flyers, do what works for you!!

  • I received an email from Stefanie, in Arizona, who informed me about a great program for babies called Baby Signs. Here is a little excerpt from their website, www.babysigns.com. They have programs throughout the United States; all you have to do is put your zip code in the space provided and find the nearest facility near you!

    • The Baby Signs Program teaches babies to use simple, easy-to-do gestures for communicating with their parents and caregivers. These gestures or "signs" represent an item or concept, like "cat," "eat," or "all gone." Using signs gives babies a way to "talk" with their parents, before they can talk. Babies can communicate about the world around them, long before they have mastered their verbal speaking skills! Babies and toddlers often use signs as a natural part of the communication process. Many babies know how to wave "bye-bye" or use a headshake to mean "no." The Baby Signs Program can help your baby use lots of other gestures to communicate just as easily as these more common "signs." The Baby Signs Institute offers parent workshops and classes to teach parents how to use the Baby Signs Program at home. To find out more about classes and products, contact one of our District Managers. You can also visit the Baby Signs Institute to learn more about the research and the benefits of the Baby Signs Program.

      Thank you Stefanie (Arizona)
