Hey mamas, there are a number of free activities to do with your kids. I have named a few in the outdoor/indoor section of the Toddlers, such as going to kid's websites (Kid's Website section), parks, play dates or what have you, but I wanted to plant a seed in your mind that there are places to go for free activities. The key is to find them in your area. Don't forget to check the newspapers, your town's website for a calendar of activities in your area, mom's groups and your local news for events. Here are a few things in my area for you to check in yours:
- One of the cinemas in my area had a free movie for moms and babies once a week!! Meet other moms, get your kids out and see a movie. Not sure if you have this, call you local theater and see if they offer it.
- Just about every toddler class I attended had a free class to see if your child and you enjoyed it. Look up your local Gymboree or my gym or any mommy and me classes to see if you can go. Never know you may like it and join.
- Libraries have a certain time of the day dedicated to story time for each age group. Check it out, meet other moms, and read a book!
- Barnes and Nobles in my area had a story time also, Mondays at 10:00 for the kids. If you have a major book store near your, find out if they offer the same thing.
- Sometimes the local mommy and me classes have an open play that can be free during the day at a specific time. Call and find out if they do.
- If you belong to a religious organization, a church, synagogue or what have you; see if they offer a time during the day where the kids can play.
- As I said before, check your fliers and newspapers in your area for lists of the parks activities. Usually on weekends there are activities and free stuff for the kids.
- If your kids like animals like mine, try going to a Pet store where there is an assortment of fish, dogs, cats and other animals. Nicholas likes the big Bass Pro Shop. He loves the fish and the big bear there, see if there is one in your area!! www.bassproshops.com
- Don't forget to JOIN A GROUP!!! Look under the moms section to find ways to meet other moms, hey, we are our own best friends. There will be moms who know ALL the ropes and where to go. Look at these websites: www.mommyandme.com, www.activitiesforkids.com, www.momsclub.org.
